Thiruvananthapuram Tourism

Thiruvananthapuram, was the old name for Trivandrum, is the capital city of Kerala. The name splits into "Tiru", "Anantha""puram" meaning "the town of Lord ANANTHA", according to the history and most of the kings were called as "Padmanabha-Dasa" or the "servants of LORD Ananthapadmanabha", and ruled the state for many years. According to the old history this was the place for trading items like spices, sandalwood and ivory. Later years led to an improvement in political and social changes in the city.
This city has harbored a number of poets, such as Ayyipillai Asan, and one visit here makes you see why. Popularly known as Trivandrum as well, Thiruvananthapuram is home to a number of temples and museums, making it one of the richest cultural and artistic centers of Kerala. The typical pagoda-shaped buildings, the red-tiled roofs along with the narrow, winding lanes of this city give it a charm which cannot be matched by any other place. Named after Anantha Padmanabha or Lord Vishnu, the city is a destination that seems to have been created out of pure joy and tranquility. Emanating an atmosphere that befits the conventional notion of what a holiday should be like, Thiruvananthapuram is truly like paradise, especially for those worn out by the struggles of the cities in their daily lives. It isn’t all about naps and coconut water, however. The city has many beautiful tales waiting to be told, and the most wonderful destinations, such as the Padmanabhapuram Palace and the Shri Chitra Art Gallery waiting to be discovered by all.
