Thoubal Tourism

Thoubal district is one of the sixteen districts of Manipur state in northeastern India. This district is bounded by Senapati district on the north, Ukhrul and Chandel districts on the east, Churchandpur and Bishnupur districts on the south and Imphal West and Imphal East districts on the west. Thoubal is almost ideal for trekking, hiking and picnics given the abundance in flora and green landscapes as well as the various facilities available here. This city is most famous for the temples and the numerous water bodies all together making it a pretty much perfect getaway which will strike the right balance of urban and a lesser known destination. Just to add in the environment a dash of activity and vibrancy, are the popular bazaars of the town such as the Ningombam Laxmi Bazaar and Athokpam Bazaar.
Located amidst hills and hillocks, the Thoubal town has its own distinctive beauty. There are several places to visit in the town as well as in the district, such as Panthoibi and Chinga Lairembi temples, Tomjing Ching and the Manipur Sahitya Samiti. The town also has several market areas where shopping is quite a pleasure. From souvenirs to handicraft and handloom products these bazaars sell it all. There are several open spaces in the outskirts of the Thoubal town which are ideal for picnics and day-long outings. Trekking and hiking are also popular activities here. There are numerous lakes and rivers in the region, too, making the district ideal for outdoor activities. The rich green paddy fields adorn most part of the horizon creating a beautiful picture for the tourists. Thoubal is primarily an agricultural district mainly producing rice, mustard seeds, oilseeds, potatoes, fruits and other vegetables. The people here have alternate occupation too of animal husbandry, producing raw silk, etc. Development has helped Thoubal open up to the world and today one can see a mix of tradition and modernity here.
