Saputara

Saputara Lake is one of the best places to visit in Saputara. Situated in the heart of this wonderful hill station, the lake is encompassed by hills and dense greenery. It’s a great place to hang out and have a lovely time. One can also enjoy beautiful views of the Sahyadri Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, from the lake. A boat club has also been built next to the lake in order to promote tourism and let visitors have access to entertainment.
This planned hill town has resorts, landscaped gardens, a lake, a ropeway, museums and a theater. There are hotels apart from log cabins and cottages to stay. North Indian and Gujarati food is available at roadside eating places and restaurants. Visitor can enjoy trekking in the forests and hills, and walking in the spacious gardens. Adventure sports such as paragliding, parasailing and rock climbing are also popular. You can visit the artists' village and the tribal museum and enjoy excursions to close by sanctuaries. However, you will need prior permission from wildlife authorities to visit the sanctuaries. There are camping facilities and tented accommodations within the sanctuaries.

Saputara is Gujarat's only hill station, in the Dang district of South Gujarat. It is located on a plateau in the Western Ghats, at an altitude of 1,000m above sea level. The Maharashtra state line is just 4km away from the town. The cities closest to Saputara are Surat, 156km away, and Nashik, 79km. It gets significant numbers of tourists from both states, so Saputara isn't exactly off the beaten track. At the same time, it hasn't been overwhelmed with visitors like many other hill stations of India. It has just about enough to spend a quiet weekend.
