Brahmapur Tourism

Berhampur also known as Brahmapur is a city on the eastern coastline of Ganjam district of the Indian state of Odisha in East India.
Berhampur is the name that the British colonialists gave the city. The city has recently been renamed as Brahmapur reflecting the Sanskrit influences in the original name of the city. While the efforts to Indianize the name are apparent, like all old habits, the name Berhampur remains for some unfathomable reason. The weavers sitting at their looms and weaving can be seen in the busy markets of Behrampur. Brassware and bell metal ware, horn toys, wood carvings and carpets are also available. The major shrines found in this place are Thakurani, Jagannath and Nilkantheswar Shiva Temples. Sculptures and specimens found with within the region with anthropological and natural history are collected and preserved in a museum.
Berhampur is the heart of Odisha. Making Behrampur as the pivotal point, you can take trips to the nearby areas. Gopalpur is known for its coirmats, Paralakhemundi for its horn work toys, Changragiri for its carpets woven by the Tibetian refugees.
