Kailash Fair

Kailash Fair, Agra, Uttar Pradesh Kailash Fair is a notable festival of Agra city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The fair is organized in the honor of Lord Shiva with lots of pomp and show. It is celebrated to memorialize the appearance of Lord Shiva in the form of a stone lingam. The fair is held at Kailash which is at a distance of around 12 km from the city of Agra. Every year, this famous festival is visited by a large number of people.

Legend of Kailash Fair
The locals believe that Lord Shiva himself is present at Kailash temple in the form of stone lingam. Shiva is one of the supreme deities of Hindu religion. It is said that the Lord fulfills wishes of all its devotees. Legend has it that Lord Shiva appeared here in the disguise of stone lingam and still present at this sanctified place to listen prayers of all devotees. Thus, a large number of pilgrims assemble here to pray and wish with full devotion.

Kailash Temple
Kailash Temple is located on the banks of a river in Sikandra. The temple is situated amidst serene environment where one can enjoy cool breeze from the Yamuna River. The temple attracts devotees without paying regard towards caste, creed and colour. The devotees mainly make offering of Belvpatr, Dhautura flower, milk, flowers and sweets. In general days, the temple remains open between 6 am to 9 pm. The devotees can attend the aarti both in the morning and in the evening.

Kailash Fair is a colorful festival full of joy and happiness. The fair is celebrated in the months of August and September. It is a colorful carnival participated by thousands of people from various places of the state. Temples, streets and shops are adorned with colorful props and papers. Many temporary shops are also set up for selling various handicraft items and traditional jewelleries. During this fair, various religious rituals are observed and devotees can be found deeply dissolved in devotion for Lord Shiva by chanting mantras. Kailash Fair is an ideal festival for all the Shiva followers and those who want to witness the religious festivals of Agra city.
